Celebrating 15 Years of Crossover: A Journey of Resilience and Growth
To celebrate this milestone, we reflect on some of the highlights of the Crossover story so far, including our recent move to a new office in Old Street, the hub of tech businesses in Central London.
Crossover: The Beginning
Crossover started out as two friends who met as students on the same audio engineering course. Having graduated, they worked separately in the audio industry for a few years before deciding to join forces to start an audio system installation business. The name ‘Crossover’ was chosen by the founder members as it has a meaning in both audio technology and in the sport of basketball – interests which are still close to both their hearts.
Crossover (noun)
- (audio technology) A component of an audio system which filters and splits a full-range signal into frequency ranges (low, high and/or mid) appropriate for different loudspeakers – e.g. mid/high and subwoofers.
- (basketball) A dribbling maneuver in which a player feints to dribble in one direction then crosses the ball over to their other hand to wrong-foot the opposition’s defence and move in a different direction.
- A blend of multiple styles of music, intended to appeal to a wider audience.
A Decade and a Half of Audiovisual Systems Integration
Almost immediately after starting operations, the original Crossover team were designing and installing projects involving video and conferencing technology, and quickly ‘crossed over’ (groan!) into a fully-fledged AV installation and systems integration business.
In the following years, Crossover steadily developed into an exceptionally strong team with a depth of expertise in IT, audio, audiovisual, and control systems. The focus remains on the meticulous delivery of high-quality, user-friendly AV and audio systems, adding value to our customers through attention to detail and above-and-beyond service throughout the project life-cycle. The word-of-mouth recommendations and repeat business we continue to receive are the result of immense dedication; a thorough design and consultation process; tenacity in tackling any and all snags, no matter how challenging; providing excellent end-user training and practical project documentation that is written in plain English; the very best post-install support and on-going professional relationships that continue for years after the initial installation.

Outstanding Audiovisual Projects: Across London and the UK
Crossover has an impressive portfolio of case studies across many commercial industry sectors, showcasing a wide range of AV services and projects. This puts the business in a very strong position when designing and bidding for new projects across a host of industry verticals – we’ve nearly always delivered very similar projects multiple times before and have clients who are delighted to vouch for our quality of installation and post-install services.
Resilience Through COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges, but Crossover emerged stronger and more resilient. Our team adapted quickly to new working conditions, particularly with extended lead times for products, however, we adapted swiftly and did everything possible to meet our clients' deadlines, ensuring that projects continued to be delivered with the same high standards. This period tested our flexibility and commitment, and we are proud to have come through it better and stronger.
New Beginnings in larger offices in Central London
In 2023 we moved to new, larger offices, staying in Old Street, Central London, but with more space that allowed us to integrate different departments better, improving communications and giving us a more suitable space for pre-commissioning and rackbuild before coming to sites to do the installation. This move marks a new chapter in our journey, and the offices have proven be a vibrant and accessible location from which to continue our growth and serve our clients even better.
Industry Recognition and Awards
Crossover have had a lot of success when it comes to industry recognition and awards, starting back in 2017 when we were nominated for Breakthrough Company of the Year at our industry's largest award arena: the AV Awards. That award nomination acknowledged 360-degree excellence in project design and innovation, business process and strategy, new product development and customer satisfaction.
Mutliple other award successes followed over the years, although we admit that in the last couple of years we've been so busy that entering these highly-contested competitions has been deprioritised. We do have an awful lot to shout about in 2025 though, so hopefully we'll enter the fray again soon.
We’re also proud of the successes of our partners and clients, including our project with Lush's flagship store on Oxford Street being awarded UK retail interior of the year and our long-standing client Digme having their Oxford site being named among the best gyms in the UK.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate 15 years of Crossover, we look forward to continuing our journey of innovation, excellence, and customer satisfaction. Thank you to all our clients, partners, and team members who have been part of this incredible journey.
Here’s to the next 15 years and beyond!

"Our go-to AV solutions provider We first selected Crossover for the launch in London of the first Rumble Gym outside of France in 2019 and we've never regretted our choice. They have since supported us for our other locations and UK projects. Their teams' dedication, organisation and communication is always exemplary. More importantly, the quality of their work and ability to find solutions whenever facing a new technical challenge has been simply impressive. They are known to be the reference when it comes to high-end or complex AV fitness projects and proved it over the past 5 years with us. We will undoubtedly continue to work with them again as we continue our development in the UK and any future project"
